For more than two decades I have enjoyed Navajo-style weaving while running a small business in architectural glass.  Five years ago, I combined my love of fiber and glass and became a maker of baskets and vessels.  Being able to link these two media to bridge traditional techniques with contemporary materials has given me a sense of historical balance.

The featured article describes my journey thusfar of working with glass and fiber to create this new body of work.  Bullseye Glass Company in Portland, Oregon is my source for all glass used in my sculptures.  The National Basketry Organization, the Damascus Fiber Arts School in Damascus, Oregon, and the Columbia Basin Basketry Guild, are my resources for classes, workshops and inspiration.  Each organization is teaming with talented artists sharing their love and knowledge with one another.   Candace Pratt
